About

Are people really walking around from door to door to check how many cannabis plants are being grown? Who knows. Either way, there are some serious problems arising in Oregon when it comes to growing cannabis at home. What do I mean by that? Well, apparently there are a lot of illegal growers operating in Oregon. So much so, that the local authorities have even brought in the National Guard in some areas in order to deal with the problem. What does this mean for cannabis growers in other states, and the legalization of marijuana as a whole in the United States? Keep reading to find out!

If you have been following OR’s policies when it comes to drug and substance use, you may not be surprised that marijuana is on the list of legal drugs. In fact, since the end of 2020, Oregon has been the first state ever to completely decriminalize the personal use of drugs by individuals. This does not mean that you can manufacture and sell drugs to your heart's content; rather, the state will not take a small amount of controlled substance and create a permanent record with a misdemeanor conviction or a felony charge. The biggest problem in Oregon when it comes to illegal growers of marijuana is that there are just so many. Where do you begin when everyone and their neighbor are growing cannabis in their own homes and backyards? Not only that, but there are even some criminal cartels that have moved into some of the rural areas of Oregon to try their hand at growing and distributing from their own farms. Oregon also has to deal with all the cannabis that is grown in northern California and sent over to Oregon.

If you are wondering why so many people are deciding to grow marijuana in Oregon, you are not alone. Oregon is actually one of the cheapest states to buy cannabis in, so it’s not like there is an overwhelming demand in the state that is attracting all these growers. However, the problem lies with the insane amount of cannabis that is illegally being produced and shipped out of Oregon. While Delta-8 derived from hemp is legal in some states, it is also currently banned or restricted in states including Texas.

However, the demand for Delta-8 cannabis has exploded in recent years, so there is high out of state demand. The important question when considering the illegal cannabis growing problem in Oregon is this; where the heck is it all going? Unfortunately, we do not really know that answer to this due to the illegal nature of the activity. However, we do know that marijuana growing in the United States is not going anywhere, and that there will always be a large demand for cannabis in the states.
